Netflix revealed more about the series in the press release below:

Kaos debuts on Netflix on August 29 with Jeff Goldblum at the helm as king of the gods, Zeus.

The queen at his side is Janet Mcteer as Hera, with Nabhaan Rizwaan as their wayward son Dionysus. On Earth, Aurora Perrineau (Riddy) and Killian Scott (Orpheus) take on the roles of disillusioned wife and constantly distracted rock star husband, respectively.

Kaos from Charlie Covell, creator of The End of the F***ing World, is an irreverent dramedy inspired by Greek mythology (no degree in classical languages necessary!). A dysfunctional family (of gods) - cruel fathers, wayward sons, disaffected wives and warring brothers - the series takes a fresh look at power structures and the idea of the 1%.

Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) is the king of the gods: all-powerful but desperately insecure. A megalomaniac in casual clothes, Zeus' paranoia flares up one day when he finds a new wrinkle on his forehead. He becomes convinced that this is proof of an ancient prophecy coming true: that he and the family of gods will fall from power. As he tries to strengthen his regime, Zeus makes dangerous enemies everywhere, doesn't listen to those who are actually trying to help him, and takes actions that threaten the very existence of humanity.

Hera (Janet McTeer) is queen of the gods and married to Zeus (who also happens to be her brother). Life is pretty good for Hera when we meet her, but it is increasingly strained by her husband's increasing paranoia and obsession with his prophecy. As Zeus becomes increasingly deranged in his actions, Hera finds herself in real danger. She has an explosive secret that could threaten her existence if Zeus discovers it. Maybe it's best for Hera to go out on her own...

Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan) is Zeus' favorite son. His mother was mortal and Hera turned her into a bee (no questions asked). Zeus made Dionysus a full-fledged god - the keeper of pleasure, madness and wild frenzy. So far everything has been going well, but lately Dionysus finds himself a bit... bored. He wants more: more power and more respect from his family. He's tired of being treated like a child. A moment of accidental cruelty from Zeus drives Dionysus to actions that are intended to annoy his father but ultimately threaten to destroy the entire world.

Meanwhile, humans continue to live frustrated lives under the rule of the Gods. Riddy (Aurora Perrineau) has no idea of her cosmic significance. She hardly feels important in her own life. She is the wife of Orpheus, the world-famous musician, and her days are ones of easy luxury: from the outside her existence is enviable.

But Riddy is deeply unhappy and knows she has to change something. And as fate would have it, a chance encounter one morning in a supermarket offers just that. Her husband, Orpheus (Killian Scott) is a rock star with a big heart and an ego to match. When his life is ripped from beneath him, Orpheus has a choice: accept what he has been dealt, or attempt to defy death itself.”
