The Canadian network has ordered ten episodes and it is unknown if American viewers will get to see the spin-off. The original series Law & Order: Criminal Intent (pictured below) ran for ten seasons on NBC and USA Network, and there has recently been talk of reviving the series.
Citytv revealed more about the new series in a press release:
"Citytv today announced the brand new crime drama Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, an adaptation of the legendary series Law & Order, coming to Citytv in Spring 2024. Produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc., in partnership with Citytv, Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent consists of ten one-hour episodes and production will take place in Toronto this fall.
Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is based on the classic series created by Dick Wolf for Universal Television. The series will feature original Canadian stories written, produced and starring Canadians. Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is a psychological thriller wrapped in a criminal investigation and follows an elite squad of detectives investigating high-profile crime and corruption in downtown Toronto.
“The timeless appeal of the cases explored in the globally successful Law & Order franchise continues to draw Citytv audiences week after week,” said Hayden Mindell, Senior Vice President of Television, Rogers Sports & Media. "We are excited to partner with Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. to bring Canadian storytelling to this iconic format."

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc. in partnership with Citytv with distribution by Universal Television.
A premiere date for Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent will be announced later.
