NCIS - Season 21
Like many American shows, NCIS faced challenges this season due to the lengthy writer's strike, which limited the season to just ten episodes instead of the usual 24. But how did those ten episodes measure up?
NCIS excels at what it does: telling stories about solving navy crimes with a team of likable characters, with a touch of not-so-subtle navy propaganda. This season maintains that formula, offering interesting cases and familiar faces. It is a bit more dense, however, due to the aforementioned writer’s strike.
One would almost forget what other things happen this season. In addition to the memorable tribute, the season also explores new story lines. We get to meet Knight’s dad, and we learn a bit more about her background and future plans; a recurring plot point during this short season. Furthermore, there is a touching episode where Vance and his estranged son find themselves in trouble.
With McCallum’s/Dr. Mallard’s passing, Sean Murray (who plays Timothy McGee) and Brian Dietzen (playing Jimmy Palmer) are the only sort-of original actors still in the show; they both have been appearing since season one, although not as main cast (which Murray became in season two, and Dietzen in season ten). It's impressive that despite numerous cast changes, the NCIS producers continue to build teams with strong chemistry. Hopefully, this trend will continue in season 22.![Video on youtube](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/KXFtdP5NhLU/maxresdefault.jpg)

The most memorable episode of the season is without doubt the tribute to David McCallum, who portrayed medical examiner dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard for twenty seasons. After McCallum’s passing in September 2023 at the age of 90, there was no doubt a proper goodbye episode was in order for such a central character and remarkable actor. The second episode, “The Stories We Leave Behind”, serves as this tribute. Co-written by Brian Dietzen, who plays medical examiner Jimmy Palmer, this episode covers a case Ducky was working on before his death. This episode beautifully honors both the beloved character and the remarkable actor. Even those who have stopped watching NCIS over the years should watch this episode, filled with memories, flashbacks, and the return of some former characters. The tribute episode beautifully honors both the beloved character and the remarkable actor

Overall, another season of interesting weekly cases. The final episode, though somewhat predictable, ends with a twist, leaving one character's future uncertain. We'll have to wait and see how this develops next season.Overall, another season of interesting weekly cases
