John Krasinski reprises his role as Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. This time he must prevent a Third World War and in the meantime, he himself must flee.

In the third season of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, Jack Ryan races against time, and across Europe, to stop a criminal plot within the Russian government from restoring the Soviet Empire and starting World War III.

Jack tries to get information confirmed about a possible plot that could be unfolding within the Russian government. This quest is of an extremely sensitive subject and gets Jack into trouble himself. Interference by the US government can easily be seen as a crime by Russia. In any case, these kinds of unauthorized missions do not contribute to the tense atmosphere that prevails between America and Russia. The tense situation escalates as soon as a Russian minister is murdered at a different location. This forces Jack to abandon his mission, but Jack instead goes on the run and is viewed as a fugitive by his own government.

Newcomer Elizabeth Wright (Betty Gabriel, Clickbait) doesn't really help Jack. Fortunately, he does get support from his old friends James Greer and Mike November. Together they unravel little by little the plan that is being forged by a group in Russia. This group would like to see the old Soviet empire restored. The nice thing is that everyone has different interests and therefore during the season you have no idea who to trust. Jack feels compelled to team up with former Soviet officer Luka Gocharov (James Cosmo, Game of Thrones). They don't trust each other at all, but they have the same goal in mind. Or not? These issues ensure that you as a viewer remain interested.



I think this series gets better with each season. Of course, the actors are now attuned to each other and especially the interaction between the characters Jack Ryan, James Greer and Mike November is absolutely superb. In addition, it is difficult to keep a worn-out genre like this exciting and lively. Yet the creators manage to succeed by coming up with creative plot twists and combining this with an entertaining storyline. It knows how to find a balance between dialogues, espionage and action-packed moments.

This season is once again packed with beautiful scenes and imagery. You get to see breathtaking images of Greece and Italy, among others. One of the few downsides, on the other hand, is the season finale. Where I praise the entire season for creative plot twists, the finale they work towards is too predictable in my opinion. It's a pity they just didn't manage to maintain the level of unpredictability, otherwise, my score would have been even higher.

When the creators of this series were recording this season, they never imagined that they would come so close to the current events of the day. In the series, Czech president Alena Kovac (Nina Hoss, Homeland) tries to do everything possible to maintain ties with Russia as well as possible. At the same time, she is toying with the idea of ​​joining NATO in order to be better protected against the threat which is becoming more and more realistic. This fact will be familiar to many of you in today's developments in which we live.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan has proven to be a very stable and entertaining series over the past few seasons and this third season is no exception. In my opinion, the third season is the best season of the series so far. Before the third season even started, it was already announced that a fourth season is coming. I'm already looking forward to it again.
